What happens at Wimbledon stays there! However, this pinky promise may not be relevant to Andy Roddick. It would be an incomplete tournament if there were no souvenirs to take home, share, and reminisce in the future. That’s what every tennis player thought, including Roddick and Serena Williams, as the former made some amusing yet shocking revelations. Despite taking home the various title trophies and a Grand Slam, Roddick couldn’t fight the urge to play a silly prank. And stole this thing from the Wimbledon Open!

The compatriots, Roddick and Williams have shared a great bond both on and off the court. In a recent Tennis Channel Live podcast, Andy Roddick, and Genie Bouchard opened up about their little dark side to the host Steve Weissman. Weissman spontaneously questions Genie about Wimbledon towels, while discussing the US Paris Olympics team for tennis. This question opened a pandora’s box which culminated in an unanticipated revelation!

In response, Genie admitted to having around 20 towels! Which costs around $50 at a gift shop, which means Genie has around $1000 worth of Wimbledon towels! However, it seems like an unsaid convention among the players as they try to steal towels. After Genie, attention turned to Roddick. When the host asks if he harbours more than 20? And he had this to say, “I don’t have any, Steve. I would never even think about stealing it.” After Andy’s repeated negations, Weissman asked if he paid for his towels. And what followed next was the silly locker room shenanigans with none other than the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

Roddick admitted to stealing towels when the match was delayed due to rain. “I would just Hoover towels,”– he stated the reasons. However, this was not all. There was another incident where the American tennis star stole towels, as a silly prank. He revealed, “I had actually a trading thing with Serena where we would trade men’s and women’s towels and leave them in each other’s lockers through the attendant.” However, it’s not just players, their guests are also after Wimbledon towels, as they tend to disappear for every so often. “So every year, but I think I only have like four left because anytime you have houseguests, they tend to go disappear,” he said.

Well, who wouldn’t want to steal the most prized towels of all tournaments for free? But after this, Roddick should expect Serena to give him a good lashing at some event, maybe the Met Gala, as they both are regular at the event.

When Andy Roddick and Serena Williams caught up at the Met Gala

Good friends, big events, and designer dresses sound like a perfect evening for the two American tennis stars. And Roddick has never shied away from sharing even his harsh opinions about the Williams sisters, and boasting a steady bond above all! However, after a tiring day, the players shared the recent updates of their lives at the Met Gala back in 2023.

When asked about his experience at the 2023 event, Roddick had this to say- “Got to see Serena and [she] told me about the baby and pregnancy. So, it was a great night, catching up with some old friends.” However, Serena is not left behind, as she keeps herself updated about his doings. Hence, when he went for a rock climbing adventure, Williams was awed and shocked by Roddick’s shenanigans!

It is always good to goof around a bit even in serious scenarios to unwind, and nobody knows it better than the two Americans!
