Amidst the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, an unexpected crossover into the tennis realm has emerged, courtesy of Andy Roddick. The former American tennis player compared the fierce music industry rivalry with Iga Swiatek‘s victory over Aryna Sabalenka at the Madrid Open. In his analysis, Roddick not only applauded the WTA No. 1 tennis player’s retaliation but also emphasized what makes her different from her rivals.

In a recent conversation on the Tennis Channel Live podcast, the former Grand Slam champion explored the astounding ascent of the 22-year-old tennis star. Roddick stated, “Swiatek responds to loss about as quickly as Kendrick’s responses to Drake when they are going at each other. I think Swiatek is one of the most consistent players, I think the top line of Rybakina and the top line of Sabalenka, match up pretty well, with Iga.”

Following weeks of musical jousting, Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s conflict took a personal turn, involving controversial claims of unreported paternity and domestic abuse. In Drake’s song “Family Matters,” there are hints about the possible paternity of one of Kendrick Lamar’s children.

In contrast, Lamar begins a counteroffensive with his song, “Meet the Grahams,” in which he accuses Drake of struggling with a number of vices, such as substance abuse, gambling, and sexual promiscuity.

Following drama in the entertainment world as closely as he does tennis, Andy Roddick thinks back to how at such a young age, Iga Swiatek has already established dominance in women’s tennis. Notably, Roddick also emphasized how she has demonstrated her extraordinary talent and tenacity on the court by posing a serious challenge to leading competitors like Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Elena Rybakina. Further, he added, “She is the most consistent player; week in and week out, she is in the conversation on the shortlist of favorites on every surface except maybe grass, at this point.”

Roddick stated, ‘I love this moment for Swiatek, I like what you’re saying, the difference is she can struggle, she has not played great in four out of the last five Grand Slams, she always has… it feels like that Rafa [Nadal] thing where even if she struggles in majors, on a slow surface like Indian Wells, on a slow surface like Roland-Garros, she is going to continue to win.” Despite being in her early career, the four-time Grand Slam champion is making waves and reaching new heights on the court because of her perseverance.
