Andre Agassi Refuses to Count John McEnroe as a Threat Ahead of American Legends’ Spicy Pickleball Clash

There is no denying that John McEnroe and Andre Agassi graced the courts during the 80s and 90s eras of men’s tennis. While showcasing an array of their skillful shots, the American tennis icons have locked horns four times. With their tennis head-to-head tied at 2-2, McEnroe and Agassi will now face each other in a totally separate racket game.

Pickleball’s craze in the tennis community is not a new topic, as some of the former players have already entered its sphere. The list includes McEnroe and Agassi, who are once again going to mark their participation in the second edition of the Pickleball Slam. Prior to their exciting new racket game encounter against McEnroe, the 8-time singles Grand Slam champion is already in a bantering mood.

The American tennis icons are returning for the popular pickleball event, as they will team up with two new additions. With some former WTA players also entering the realms of the new racket game, Steffi Graf will play alongside her husband, while Maria Sharapova will team up with John McEnroe for the Pickleball Slam 2.

While speaking about his upcoming encounter against Sharapova and McEnroe, the 8-time singles Grand Slam champion recently issued a hilarious prediction. In an exclusive conversation with the Pickleball Slam, Agassi said, “Prediction there’s just its, um, listen, I hope Maria is playing the game cus I’d love to see her have this part of her life, you know, with her ability, with her levers, with her length, with her quality of ball striking.”

While heaping praise on the former Russian tennis player, Agassi jokingly said, “I mean she will bring something really interesting to the table, you know Mac has a ceiling, and he hit it 10 years ago.” 

As he was in a bantering mood, the Hall of Famer also opened up about how Sharapova and McEnroe have a “snowball chance” against them.

During the same conversation, the former tennis pro asserted that he doesn’t like to set the bar too high.  However, Agassi also said that he thinks his compatriot stands a “snowball chance” in their upcoming pickleball match. “You know, I don’t like to set the bar too high, but I don’t think they have a snowball chance in July against us,” the American jokingly stated.

Agassi further asked his wife, “What do you think, do they? The snowball is going to melt in July, so how they are going to survive?” It prompted Steffi Graf to ask, “How do you come up with stuff like that?” Agassi answered, “I’m kind of weird in the head.”
