Alexis Ohanian has once again shown the world why he’s a fan favorite—not just as a business mogul but as a devoted family man and sports enthusiast! While he’s well-known for expressing his love for his wife Serena Williams, this time, his spotlight moment features a unique connection to none other than Andy Roddick. In a recent post, Ohanian revealed that he had stumbled upon a special souvenir related to Roddick, and he could not be happier.
The 41-year-old has often expressed his interest in collecting unique cards and comics. This time, what piqued his interest again were the NetPro cards, the first brand to officially produce tennis trading cards. The company has been operating since 1991 and has remained a fan favorite for featuring players like Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, and Venus Williams among others. Ohanian took to his Instagram story to share how his effort to find a rookie card of his legendary wife was unsuccessful, but his effort did not go in vain as he found a unique card, related to Roddick.
Sharing a picture of the 2003 Netpro Elite 2000 Card of Roddick on his Instagram story, Ohanian expressed his admiration for the former American star. Captioning the story, he wrote, “I must have ripped ~100 of these 2003 NetPro packs looking for Serena, but gotta admit this rookie card of Andy Roddick is pretty awesome too – only 2000 were ever made!” And the admiration is worth justifying given the uniqueness of the card.

For the unversed, this 20-card set was one of the releases by NetPro in 2003 and was limited to only 2000 serial-numbered factory sets. Each set also included a rare glossy variation which was limited to 100, per the official website of the brand. And interestingly, Roddick has a special bond with NetPro. NetPro revamped the brand in 2001 and it was then that it signed Andy Roddick for a special contract. This contract enabled the company to produce the first-ever officially licensed autographed tennis card – leaving the fans mesmerized. However, for Ohanian, this was not the main goal.
The Reddit co-founder was keen to find a Rookie card related to Serena Williams. In 2003, NetPro released several cards related to Williams including the Premier Limited Edition Glossy Set and International Serena Williams Promo Cards, and Ohanian was probably hunting one of these. Point to note, Williams, has also set an interesting record in 2022 which relates to her NetPro Rookie card.
In 2022, the tennis great’s 2003 Net Pro signed patch rookie card was sold for a staggering $266,400 at the Golden Auction. In fact, it was then more than doubling the record for a card featuring a female athlete. Meanwhile, Alexis Ohanian’s latest efforts to find a card related to his wife further highlight his admiration for his wife. But among such a vast collection of wife Serena Williams’ rookie cards that have been designed, which one is Ohanian’s favorite? Well, he himself disclosed it in the past.

In May this year, Ohanian took to his Instagram story to share a post by ALT, which claims to be the modern marketplace to buy and sell trading cards. In the post, a person revealed Ohanian’s favorite card. He said, “This is actually Alexis’ favorite card. And it’s the 2018 Employee Exclusive Patch Auto. But he loves it because this is a photo of her in the 2017 Australian Open, where she was pregnant with Olympia. So this is his favorite card by far.” Ohanian’s resharing of the story hints at his confirmation of the claim.
