Frances Tiafoe has been playing wonders recently. Big Foe entered the US Open with high hopes and is delivering on the expectations of his fans. He entered round three rather comfortably and ended his current bout rather quickly. When asked about how he managed to win early on, Tiafoe joked about how he made the wish of Serena Williams’ best friend, Caroline Wozniacki, come true. 

Tiafoe and Wozniacki have become good friends ever since the American slam commenced. The two were cordial with each other previously but after a practice session, they became good buddies. Now, Tiafoe has fulfilled Wozniacki’s wish.

Big Foe went into the US Open as a favorite of the locals. The Maryland player who recently entered the top 10 has created a lot of expectations from American fans of the sport. So far, Tiafoe has been delivering on it as he eased past his first two opponents.

He faced Sebastian Ofner in the second round and defeated the Austrian player in straight sets with the final score of 6-3, 6-1, 6-4. The match concluded rather quickly as Tiafoe demolished his Austrian foe in 1 hour and 32 minutes.

When asked how he managed to beat Ofner with such speed, he said, “Caroline wanted me to win in straight sets. So I’m happy she gets to come out here & you guys get to watch her play.“

He was referring to Wozniacki, who was set to play after him. Although he gave Tiafoe some competition in the last set, the American player had it in the bag. Wozniacki, who then played after him, also beat her opponent. Wozniacki faced Petra Kvitova and beat her in straight sets, her best victory since she came back from retirement.

The victory is another thing that connects Tiafoe and Wozniacki. She and the American player have become good friends ever since the US Open began due to practice sessions together.

The two had a practice session during the initial day of the American slam. Wozniacki shared a picture with him on her Instagram story, which was further shared by Tiafoe with the caption, “Thanks for breaking me down“.

Wozniacki and Tiafoe are extroverted people who like to play hard while working hard. The two becoming friends is something that many might not have foreseen, but the blooming bond is a welcome one.
