17-year-old Coco Gauff is having quite an amazing season in 2021 so far. She climbed to her best ever WTA rankings this year and is right now the World No.25 player in the world. Even though, she doesn’t talk with many players on the tour, she recently revealed that she has a special connection with Australian professional tennis player, Nick Kyrgios.
In a recent interview, Coco Gauff revealed the name of the player with whom she will like to be friends with on the tour. Interestingly, she took the name of Nick Kyrgios and explained the reason for the same.
“Definitely Nick Kyrgios,” began Gauff. “On court, he is a super funny, cool guy and off court, super kind.”

It is quite intriguing that Gauff wants to be friends with the bad boy of tennis. She finds him a very funny and cool guy who is also a kind person off the court.

Coco Gauff shares her first meeting with Nick Kyrgios
In the same interview, Gauff disclosed how she first met Kyrgios. It was actually at the Miami Open when Gauff was just 12-years-old that she sat beside the Australian player. She also stated that he had also played Ping Pong with his brother once.

“He probably doesn’t know this but I first sit with him when I was twelve, I believe at the Miami Open. He also played ping pong with my brother back in this Citi Open last year… So yeah, him,” added the American player.

Interestingly, Kyrgios even responded to her statements and and thanked her on his Instagram story. “Thanks Champ,” wrote Kyrgios in the caption of his story.
Coco Gauff will begin her campaign against Anastasija Sevastova at National Bank Open 2021 tomorrow. She is returning to the court after the Wimbledon Championships 2021 and will look forward to regain her form and momentum ahead of the US Open 2021. Will she be able to succeed in Toronto this year?
