Although Stephen Curry defeated Sabrina Ionescu in the All-Star shootout, the latter delivered an electric performance that left fans in awe. Even the American tennis sensation, Coco Gauff, was stunned by Ionescu’s showing. As a result, she wished for a similar show in tennis as well. And what better than the matchup between Serena Williams and Nick Kyrgios?

Along with her tennis exploits, Gauff is a big fan of basketball. Especially the NBA all-star weekend game made her excited about its concept. And Gauff is keen for tennis to follow the same concept.

Coco Gauff makes a candid revelation

Days ago, the NBA all-star weekend round-up featured an exciting battle between Stephen Curry vs Sabrina Ionescu. Excited by its concept, Gauff wanted a battle between Williams and Kyrgios in tennis. During an interview at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships, she was asked what skills would be required to recreate this format in tennis.

Replying to this question, Gauff said, “Yeah, I mean, there’s obviously the serve targets. The serve, I would have loved to see somebody maybe like Serena and Nick maybe go toe to toe in that serve challenge.”

Further, she went on to add, “It will be quite interesting. I would really love to see that, Ons and Carlos. Maybe somebody can go toe to toe with Nick and Serena. Serena doesn’t play anymore, but I think her serve was the best. That would have been interesting to see.”

While Gauff wasn’t able to catch the action, she was in awe of Sabrina Ionescu’s performance against Stephen Curry. She had a heartwarming message following the NBA all-star weekend match.

Gauff loved the competition between Ionescu and Stephen Curry

In the same interview, the American revealed how Ionescu’s performance was a game-changer. Further, she also hoped that such results aren’t one-time and they continue to do that.

She said, “It just humbles a lot of men in the world. I really like that. Especially basketball, that type of competition, it’s something physicality doesn’t always matter. I think that’s what makes it cool.”
