The brand was then relatively unknown, but a small magical moment sparked its popularity among sports fans. In 2020, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was spotted donning On sneakers in the promo video of the Super Bowl LIV. Interestingly, the Hollywood sensation was then in partnership with Under Armour. This tiny moment later on proved to be extremely beneficial for the Roger Federer-backed Swiss brand. Recently, Federer reminisced about that game-changing moment.

During a recent interaction with the Complex’s Joe La Puma, Roger Federer revealed how that moment featuring The Rock sparked a curiosity among fans for On. “He (The Rock) was wearing the white and black, the clouds! I mean the company erupts like ‘What is The Rock doing? Why is he wearing those shoes?’ Especially I mean I still go back to that sequence on YouTube sometimes and I check it out because it’s so…it pumps up the energy of this presentation of the team is epic, I thought.

Roger Federer further added, “A lot of people all of a sudden look towards On maybe because of a moment like this. As a smaller brand from Switzerland, ‘Who are they? What do they do?’ Some people even call them QC right here in the States… You know it was like upside down but that was a big moment when The Rock wore, I remember that.Ever since Roger Federer’s investment in this brand, On has gone from strength to strength in the last few years. The brand sponsors several tennis icons, including the women’s world number 1, Iga Swiatek, and American youngster, Ben Shelton!

According to Roger Federer, “I don’t think working on On has felt like work or a business.” Instead, he sees it more like a “fun process” where he gets the chance to play in role in creating something special for the brand. “I love coming in and talking to the team, adding my perspective and listening to them – I feel like I was able to ignite a love, a passion, for tennis,” said Federer. We saw how Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson played a key role in promoting Roger Federer’s On during its early days, but his camaraderie with the tennis star isn’t something new to the sports fans.
