Sports give birth to legends and the legends are known by the sport they play. Roger Federer and Lionel Messi are two such legends, who have achieved tremendous success in tennis and soccer, respectively.

However, earlier this month, the tennis giant announced his sudden retirement from the sport and played his last game at the Laver Cup. The Swiss master played tennis for more than 20 years and finished with 20 Grand Slam victories. Additionally, according to the Argentina team manager, the soccer sensation is ready to follow the former world number one into his retirement.

Lionel Scaloni believes Messi’s retirement will be similar to that of Roger Federer

The Argentina team manager, Lionel Scaloni in his recent press interaction, praised the swiss maestro and compared the soccer star’s potential retirement to that of Federer’s. In that conversation, he hinted that the soccer player’s retirement announcement would have a similar drill to that of the tennis legend’s final match.

He said, “Lionel Messi is like Federer. He retired and what happened when he retired? Everybody was excited, everybody was thinking, he won’t be here anymore, he’s not going to play anymore. How many of us would like to see Federer play tennis? Because it was wonderful to watch him play. The same will happen with him (Messi) and much more because football is a sport that moves much more. So, let’s enjoy it…”

According to him, as Messi approaches the end of his terrific soccer career, his fans should enjoy him seeing him play in the World Cup. The soccer legend may call it off his international soccer career after this year’s World Cup in Qatar. He has made it clear that he will make a choice about his future after the event and will look into all possibilities.   

Lionel Messi lauds Federer

The Paris Saint-Germain took to his Instagram and shared his part of tribute for the former world number one. He wrote that he will miss him on the tennis court and he enjoyed watching him on the tennis court.
