What is pressure? Well, imagine being the daughter of an NBA legend and trying to pursue excellence in a different sport. The NSWL star Trinity Rodman once admitted that the constant public focus on her father, Dennis Rodman, added more pressure. She found herself overshadowed by her father’s fame and struggles. “Everything has always revolved around him,” said the USWNT star. As an 18-year-old, Rodman stormed into the scene back in 2021 with a seven-goal, seven-assist rookie season for the Washington Spirit, and ever since, she has kept growing every day. And it’s not just on the field that she has made headlines. Trinity recently grabbed the spotlight with the confirmation of her relationship with the American ATP star Ben Shelton. Has it brought a new challenge to her life?

Well, just like Rodman, even Shelton comes from a sporting background. His father, Bryan Shelton, is an American former college tennis coach and former pro tennis player. Ben has time and again confessed how “tough” it was for him being the coach’s son, as he had to work harder and push himself more because his father didn’t want to show “favoritism.” Did that add any extra pressure to their lives? Ever since Shelton confirmed his relationship with Rodman, both these athletes have taken the internet by storm. It all started when Shelton shared a TikTok video with Jorijana and GloRilla’s ‘ILLBB2’ playing in the background, asking, “T**** wsp with u.” Later, Trinity came up with her own TikTok using the same song, writing, “___wassup w you.” Shelton again reacted to another video clip of Rodman commenting, “Ain’t no way.” So, that’s how the rumors spread, and a few days later, Sheton shared an IG post where Trinity Rodman could be seen kissing him on his cheeks. The post was captioned, “I been focused, but I’m steady climbin’, I’m nowhere near my peak.” 

So that’s how he hard-launched his relationship, but how does Trinity Rodman think about her relationship becoming public? Well, recently during an interview with ESPN, she shared her thoughts on it. “I mean, I am just another person in a relationship that people know about it, so yeah, I’m obviously very happy, and hopefully some of the world is happy, but, yeah, I think you know, it’s in the public eye, and I can’t really do much about it,” Rodman said.

Trinity was over the moon with Shelton announcing their relationship publicly on Instagram. She even joked, “Me seeing the Ben Shelton hard launch…then realizing I’m the girl.“

Now, days after Shelton “hard-launched” their relationship, Trinity expressed her love for the tennis star with yet another selfie. She captioned that post with, “Dibs 🤭,” and a few minutes later, Shelton commented on it saying, “Whoever that is he won fs [for sure].” Even Sloane Stephens commented on that post, saying, “Here for it!“

As both Shelton and Rodman continue to carve their paths in their respective sports, fans eagerly await what the future holds for this power couple. Trinity Rodman was recently handed some good news, too. What’s it?

Both Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman are in the prime phases of their careers. Shelton had a stellar start to this season as he reached the SF of the 2025 AO. Thereafter, he became the youngest US men’s player to reach the QF at Indian Wells since Andy Roddick in 2002. Although the American failed miserably in Miami by losing his first-round match against Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong in the R64, he is now looking forward to making a strong comeback in his next tournament.

Amid all that, his girlfriend Rodman has now been called up to the USWNT for their upcoming friendly matches against Brazil in April. Just like Shelton, Rodman is one of the brightest stars in the sporting world. Did you know she was even named the US Young Female Player of the Year in 2021?

How did Shelton meet her, though? Was it through any friend during any of these sporting events? Well, Shelton’s close friend and fellow tennis star, Francis Tiafoe, recently told Overtime Tennis that he brought them together. “I was like, the one who [connected them] — if we’re going to be real.”

However, Rodman was a bit surprised with this admission as she later clarified, “I don’t know if I want everyone to know the story, but I can assure you Francis was not the reason that we met or got together. I don’t know why he’s taking credit for that.”
