Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman made waves around the sporting world when they “hard launched” their relationship with TikTok clues, followed by an official confirmation of their romance in a picture posted on IG on Monday, March 17. In that picture, they could be seen embracing while standing in an elevator, with Rodman having her arm around Shelton’s neck as she planted a gentle kiss on his cheek. Ever since Shelton posted that mirror selfie and made their relationship official, the couple has been showing support for each other publicly. Now, as Shelton takes on Alexander Zverev in the final of the BMW Open later today, will Rodman be in attendance to cheer him on?
Just a few weeks ago, Rodman scored a stunning goal for the USWNT while playing against Brazil in a friendly match. After her incredible performance in her team’s 2-0 victory over Brazil, Shelton shared her iconic moment on his IG stories with the caption, “🔒🇺🇸.” However, shortly after her promising scoring return to the USWNT, the soccer star suffered a back injury. Later, her agent, Mike Senkowski, confirmed that she was in London to consult with a doctor, and she’d return to play soon.
Despite her own injury struggles, Trinity Rodman is showing her support for Ben Shelton as the American makes an impressive run in Munich. After Shelton’s victory in the R16 of the BMW Open, she shared a video clip of the lefty scoring his last point of the match that got him the win. “Insane 😤 💪,” Rodman wrote on her IG stories.

Recently, Rodman was spotted in Shelton’s box as well during his SF clash in Munich against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in Munich. Considering the fact that she was there cheering Shelton on in the semis, there is a good chance the American star might be seen in Shelton’s box again during the summit clash.

Not only Trinity, but even her mother, and ex-wife of Chicago Bulls legend Dennis Rodman, shared a post on her IG story, highlighting Shelton’s incredible win in the BMW Open. She captioned it with, “Congrats Ben!“.
Both Rodman and Shelton are in the prime stages of their careers! How has life been under the additional limelight Rodman is getting after going public with her relationship with Ben? Has it added any extra bit of pressure? Responding to that previously, Rodman said, “I mean, I am just another person in a relationship that people know about it, so yeah, I’m obviously very happy, and hopefully some of the world is happy, but, yeah, I think you know, it’s in the public eye, and I can’t really do much about it.“
Talking about handling pressure, well, Shelton is handling it alright in Munich. He has now already become the first American man to reach a clay-court final (above ATP 250 level) since Andre Agassi won the Rome Masters in 2002. Interestingly, it is the same year when Ben was born! What was Shelton’s reaction after securing his spot in the final of the BMW Open?

“It’s a big win for me,” – Ben Shelton’s first reaction after booking his spot in the final of the BMW Open
Ben Shelton may not seem like a player born to excel on clay courts, but a runner-up finish (at least) at the BMW Open could be significant in changing that perception. Shelton defeated Francisco Cerundolo by 2-6,7-6(7),6-4 in the SF of this tournament, and with that win, he has now reached his fourth career final, second on clay after winning the title in Houston last year.
Following this impressive fightback, Shelton said, “It’s a big win for me. To get a win on clay against a guy like that gives me a lot of confidence, and to be in an [ATP] 500 final over here in Europe, I’m really happy. I’ve been playing well here, I love the energy here in Munich, and I’m going to go for that title tomorrow.”
However, the title triumph in Munich won’t be easy, as he’s now all set to face the home favorite and current world number 3, Alexander Zverev, in the ultimate battle! Zverev has won this title twice (2017,2018) in his career, and he has a 1-0 record over Shelton in the H2H stat. The German secured an impressive 7-6(3),6-3 win in his previous match against Fabian Marozsan. How optimistic is he about his chances in the final?

“It’s awesome, the entire week has been amazing…I’m enjoying it myself and hopefully, I can have another great day tomorrow,” said Zverev in his post-match interview. He will now be aiming to equal countryman Philipp Kohlschreiber’s record tally of three Munich titles, but can Shelton’s lady luck yet again turn things in his favor on Super Sunday? Well, time will tell!
