Alicia Keys' brother rooting for Fritz—Will this celebrity support make a difference in his performance?

‘Claylor’ Fritz they say, do they call it right? American duo Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul recently brought an end to Andy Murray’s illustrious career by defeating him and Dan Evans in the QF of the doubles event at the Paris Olympics. Fritz played exceptionally well in his previous match and his stellar performance along with Paul, caught the eyes of Cole Cook. Who’s he though?

Well, Cole Cook is the “big little brother” of the famous American singer, Alicia Keys, born Alicia Augello Cook. He recently shared a small clip featuring Fritz’s recent match at the Games. During that clip, Fritz was seen playing an outstanding shot by making full use of his long reach at the nets. Cook captured that moment on a giant screen and posted that clip on his Instagram story, tagging the American tennis star and putting ‘fire’ emojis in the caption.

For those who are unaware of the connection between Cook and Keys, Craig Cook and Terria Joseph welcomed their first and only child, Alicia in January 1981. Then ten years later, Craig welcomed his second child, named Cole with another woman. Both Alicia Keys and Cole Cook grew up separately.

Alicia was raised in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan in NYC by her mother, while Cole grew up in Colorado. Growing up in a musically inclined family, the 33-year-old was exposed to the arts from a very young age. After that, he nurtured his passion for music and creativity and carved out a niche for himself in the music industry.

He’s now a talented musician and producer. Besides his musical pursuits, Cook has also been actively involved in various philanthropic works related to youth empowerment, social justice, and education. Despite having an age gap of almost ten years and staying away from each other for quite some time, his bond with her sister, Alicia has always been very strong. They’re often spotted celebrating each other’s success and giving support in times of need.

“I would never know the love that a brother and sister can share if I wasn’t blessed with a big little brother.” Cole has referred to Alicia on Instagram as his “best friend” in the world, calling her the “sweetest human” that he knows in different post.

“You spread positivity to everyone you see, you’re beyond brilliant, you give so much love and laughter to the people that surround you,” he wrote in a birthday tribute for Alicia in January 2024. “You’re truly something special and I just wanted to say I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH.”

Now seeing him, support Fritz at the Paris Olympics has made the fans quite amazed. Fritz had a lot of support from Day 1 in Paris, but how has been his campaign so far this year at the mega event?

Taylor Fritz’s ‘topsy-turvy’ journey  at the Paris Olympics

Andre Agassi is the last American men’s player to win a gold medal at the 1996 Olympics. Even after 28 years of that historic feat,  the wait is still on! Fritz and Co. failed to deliver at the singles in 2024. Fritz was defeated in the R3 by Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti. However, the American hopes are still alive at the doubles event.

Before the start of the Olympics, Fritz looked a bit concerned about playing on this surface yet again. Reason? He suffered an injury at the French Open this year and he revealed that it was worse than what he had felt initially. However, he came back strongly at the grass-court swing. So, we can easily rule out the chance of him not being 100% fit!

This is his first Olympics and he has always mentioned how excited he is always to play in these team sports. Fritz will surely be disappointed with his result at the singles event but he has no time to think of his failure as the Australian duo Matthew Ebden and John Peers patiently wait for him and Paul in the SF. Will we yet again see Cole Cook jump in joy after the SF match on Friday (August 2)? Only Fritz’s victory can tell!
