Carlos Alcaraz is currently on a major winning streak. Although the Spaniard is still a few steps away from the world no.1 spot, praises from legends like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic adds a unique dynamic to his position. However, it is now time for him to take a detour from the hustles of professional rankings to represent his nation. While his confirmed doubles partner was busy tackling competition in Bastad, he used an emergency contact to practice with.

Alcaraz recently returned to the clay courts to acclimate to the surface once again for the upcoming Paris Olympics. While he and Nadal have not practiced together so far due to different scheduling, the young ATP star turned to his friend and emergency contact, Pablo Carreño Busta, for training.

Alcaraz and Busta hit the courts from 11:00 to 13:00 on Monday. The training was mainly focused on sharpening their skills and building on their on-court chemistry. Carreño Busta, who won a bronze medal in doubles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, already has a knack for this prestigious event. While Alcaraz is gearing up for his first-ever Olympic appearance, Busta’s presence came out to be a boon for him.
