The stage is set, and the players are ready! It’s time to roll the ball at the Stade Roland Garros for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Several competitors from across the world will compete in almost thirty-two different sports and the racquet sport proves to be one of the most-watched sports in the mega event. Tennis will get underway at the iconic clay-court venue from Saturday (July 27) and we’ve already got the names of the superstars featured in the men’s singles seedings for the Olympics, featuring Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner.
It’s in fact for the first time since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics that the tennis matches will be played on red clay. 184 athletes from 41 countries will compete for the gold medals in men’s and women’s, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events. Some will take part in the Olympics for the first time in their careers, while others will be playing at their last. Here are the official seedings for the men’s singles.
The world number one, Sinner sits at the top of the list, while in the second spot, is the ‘hungry predator’. Novak Djokovic is the second seed this time at the Olympics as he overtakes the in-form Alcaraz. The Serb has won several titles in his career, but he is missing the Olympic gold. He will head to his fifth and probably the last appearance at the Summer Olympics. The third on the list is the 2024 French Open and Wimbledon champion, Alcaraz. Looking at his form this year, he’s surely one of the favorites to win the most-demanded medal in the Games.

Novak Djokovic wants to fight for a medal at the Paris Olympics
Djokovic is in a surprising struggle in the 2024 season. More than half of the 2024 season has gone by, and he’s yet to win a title. However, he has shown a flare at Wimbledon this year by reaching the finals but can he repeat a similar long run for his nation at the Paris Olympics? “I still have intentions to play Olympic Games and, hopefully, have a chance to fight for a medal for my country,” said Djokovic in a recent interview. He is now keen to forget his dreadful performances this year with a winning run at the Paris Olympics and the US Open.
Sinner, on the other hand, missed last year’s event due to an illness but this year, he is “excited” to step onto the courts and do well for his nation. Alcaraz also made his intentions clear, “Obviously coming to the tournament, I am going to go for the title.“ His goal is now to bring a gold medal for his country. The fourth-seeded Zverev has also set defending his crown and winning the gold medal as his top priority in 2024.
