The advantage that Korda and Ben Shelton have in tennis unveiled with Patrick Mahomes given as an example
In a recent revelation, sports commentator Ari Wolfe talked about the advantage that young talents like Sebastian Korda and Ben Shelton have in tennis. Wolfe used Patrick Mahomes from the NFL as an example, which suggested that growing up in a pro sports environment offers a distinct mindset and comfort level when the pressure is on.
Korda, whose father is former professional tennis player Petr Korda, and Shelton, with a similar background as his dad, was also a pro tennis player have been into sports since childhood. They have witnessed their fathers’ careers, been around the pro tennis atmosphere, and as a result, are less likely to be overwhelmed when competing at the highest level. This familial advantage sets them apart from their rivals, making them strong contenders for future success in tennis.
“I just think the Korda comes at it from a unique, you know, mindset and think about it also but Shelton has that in common. His dad was a pro tennis player. So when you grow up around it, you’re not wowed by these moments, because you grew up around it right?” said Wolfe in the podcast.
“People look at Patrick Mahomes. And they’re like, he always looks like he’s good with it. Well, his dad was a pro baseball player. He’s been in that atmosphere around the pro game. And I think that helps a lot. Just the comfort level when the lights come on, that you’re not overwhelmed by quarter or shell and I think they’re almost the deadlock for me for taking futures,” she further added.
Thus, the likes of Sebastian Korda and Ben Shelton have great advantages over their rivals. While the two have already caused havoc in tennis, it is only time that will reveal how far they go in their pursuit of greatness. Also, with the year he has had so far, there is no doubt that Shelton possesses a great talent when it comes to tennis.
