The 28-year-old Pliskova decided to part her ways with former coach Daniel Vallverdu after a pretty bad 2020 season. She hired Vallverdu last year only but believed that the two could not perform well together.

Similarly, Ukrainian player Dayana Yastremska also parted her ways with coach Sascha Bajin in 2020. There was something not well within the two after Bajin praised Naomi Osaka when she played against Yastremska. However, she cited that it was because of her poor performance at the US Open 2020.
With Bajin coming into her team, Pliskova seems more delighted. She informed her fans on Twitter and introduced her new coaching staff to them. She would definitely like to forget her 2020 season and would like to make a fresh start with her new German coach.

Pliskova did not win a single title in 2020 under coach Daniel Vallverdu. Her best performance was at the Italian Open 2020 where she managed to reach the finals. However, she got injured in the second set losing to World No.2 Simona Halep.

Apart from this, her performance was not that great, especially at the Grand Slams. At the Australian Open 2020, she could not get past the third round. What was even more frustrating was that she managed to win just 1 game at both the US Open and French Open 2020.
She managed to reach the quarters of the Dubai Tennis Championship but then, Elena Rybakina defeated her in straight sets. Her last tournament of the season was the Ostrava Open 2020 where she lost in the very first round despite winning the first set.
