The former American world no. 1, Andy Roddick was among the most promising players during his time on the ATP tour. Roddick also received mentorship from the 8-time Grand Slam champion, Jimmy Connors who was his friend and coach. Connors guided his compatriot from 2006 to 2008.

Roddick recently revealed that he once caught his former coach and friend throwing up after one of their practice sessions. He further stated that Connors had no idea that he was caught puking in the toilet.

Andy Roddick talked about an incident involving his compatriot, Jimmy Connors

The 2003 US Open champion, Andy Roddick, was recently featured in a podcast with Jimmy Connors and Brett Connors. During the podcast, Roddick talked about his relationship with the American legend during his career. He further revealed an incident involving Connors that happened after their practice session in Austin, Texas.

Roddick stated, “And then we were kind of getting ready for the US Open and it was like hot as life. I think it was like 110 degrees or something.” The former US Open champion went on to say that Connors suddenly left the practice session without informing them. Roddick added, So you leave the court for a second part of can be don’t say anything. You just kind of walk off and we’re getting water whatever I walk into the bathroom and you’re vomiting in the toilet.”

The former American tennis player stated that it was a very hot day, and he was “so dizzy.” Roddick went on to say that when he walked into the toilet, he tried to be as quiet as he possibly could. He further stated that Connors might have had no idea that his compatriot saw him puking. Roddick added, so to this day I don’t know if he knew I was in there.”

Roddick talked about how Connors supported him during his tennis journey

During the podcast, Roddick also talked about how Connors always encouraged him as a great coach. The former world no. 1, appointed Connors as his coach and mentor in 2006. Roddick revealed that there was always transparency between him and Connors.

Additionally, Roddick further stated that the 8-time Grand Slam title champion never shouted or yelled at him during their practice sessions on the tennis court. Roddick continued by stating that whenever Connors raised his voice, it was always to encourage him and never as a mark of disrespect or criticism. He added that he begged Connors to tell inspiring stories of how he dominated during his heyday on the tour.
