The ATP legends, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have always been at the center of the long-standing debate of who is the greatest player in the history of the sport. In addition to a slew of fans, some of the coaches on the men’s circuit have now joined the decade-long argument in the tennis community.

Even the legendary Spanish coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero has recently expressed his opinion on the legacies of both tennis greats. Speaking of it, the former tennis player, who is currently coaching Carlos Alcaraz, detailed how Nadal needed less time span than his arch-rival Federer to become the sport’s greatest.

The legendary ATP coach was recently featured in an interview with Tennis Majors, in which he opened up about his experiences with the Spanish tennis star, Carlos Alcaraz. While speaking of the 19-year-old player’s rise in the men’s circuit, Juan Carlos Ferrero compared him with the big 3 of tennis, including the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

With some remarkable displays, the reigning US Open champion has already bagged a number of titles in quick succession. Taking note of Alcaraz’s great momentum on the men’s circuit, Ferrero called him “super special” like the tennis greats, Nadal and Federer, who have won a slew of major titles during their journeys.

Later, Juan Carlos was reminded that the Swiss tennis Maestro needed a period of four years to become an elite player on the ATP Tour. It was Federer’s triumph in the Wimbledon Championship that cemented his position as one of the best players in the tennis community.

Nadal, on the other hand, was quick to make his mark on the men’s circuit at a very young age compared to his arch-rival, Federer. Ever since, the Spaniard had matched strides with the former tennis ace while being on the same wavelength.

Notably, Ferrero said, “Yes but Rafa didn’t and they have the same level now. I don’t know the words: maybe you’re born with that. It comes out from people like them and it just happens.”
