Dylan Alcott welcomed Alexander Zverev to the Gold Medal club
After Zverev’s victory over John Millman in round 2 of the Australian Open, wheelchair tennis legend Dylan Alcott interviewed him. The banter between the two was hilarious from start to finish.
Alcott, a 4-time Gold Medalist himself, welcomed Alexander Zverev to the “Gold Medal club”, as the crowd cheered on. “The only difference is you got about four of them,” Zverev promptly joked.
Then, Alcott cheekily replied, “You’ve got three (medals) to go but you’ll get there”. However, Zverev responded by saying that he wouldn’t ever play for that long. Returning to the question at hand, Alcott asked Zverev the significance of his 2020 Tokyo Olympics Gold Medal for him, and for his country as well.

“You can agree with me on that,” Zverev began, addressing Alcott. “There’s nothing compared to a Gold Medal. There’s nothing compared to the Olympics,” the World No. 3 expressed. In fact, as Zverev acknowledged the special feeling of standing in “center court at the Australian Open,” he apologized to the crowd for putting the Olympics as the most special event.
For Alexander Zverev, “a Gold Medal is something that every athlete dreams about,” regardless of the sport or background one comes from. “There’s nothing in the world that compares with it,” Zverev smiled and said, as the crowd rose to their feet to applaud his achievement.

Hilarity ensues as Zverev and Alcott put up a comedy show
The hilarious banter between Alexander Zverev and Dylan Alcott didn’t seem to stop. When Alcott asked Zverev where he kept his gold medal, the 24-year-old replied that his brother took it from him for a media appearance. “I don’t know where it is for the past five months,” Zverev smiled.
As soon as Zverev stated that he hoped his brother didn’t palm off his Gold Medal on eBay, Alcott responded that he did in fact see Zverev’s medal on the website. “I’ve actually got five (medals) now, because I just bought it,” Alcott joked, as the entire crowd at the Rod Laver Arena chuckled with him.
