Nick Kyrgios is often portrayed as the bad guy of tennis. The Aussie star often finds himself on the receiving end of negative comments from most of the tennis world. While he may be the bad guy for many, he is not that for all. Recently, an Australian comedian talked about the struggling time they found themselves in and how Kyrgios was the one who helped them through it.

Many in the world look at Nick Kyrgios as someone who is always at odds with others. He is often seen speaking out against those he dislikes. However, that is not all that the Aussie player is capable of. Recently, Loney went through a difficult bout with his mental health, and Kyrgios was the first one who called him to make sure he could help him in any way possible.

He wrote a lengthy message on his Instagram story, which was reshared by Nick Kyrgios on his Instagram story. He started by saying that he has met many people throughout his life and he now aims to not judge people based on what he hears through external sources. Loney said this because he wanted to give a shout-out to Nick Kyrgios, who does not get any credit for what he does off-court.

Loney said that he wanted to take his life and further stated, “I’ll never forget this.. The first person who called me? Nick Kyrgios. I was a mess. He stayed on the phone with me until I stopped crying and shared his own similar experiences in losing a loved one / enduring hardship with me so I didn’t feel so alone. The ‘bad guy’ of Australian tennis? Maybe you should question what you hear or read from time to time.

Loney calls Nick Kyrgios a “real one”

As he continued to thank Nick Kyrgios for being with him throughout the days, he also explained how Kyrgios treated him like family. “Nick, being the guy he flew me to Canberra, took me in with his family. Looked after me, made me laugh for the first time in over a month. Took my mind off the suffering, treated me like family.”

Loney explained that when the two were working out in the gym one day, Kyrgios saw his foot bleeding through his beat-down shoes and ordered five pairs of Nike shoes for him and his dad as well. He ended his message by addressing him as the “Villain” of Australian tennis. “To the ‘villain’ of Australian tennis. Thanks for everything; you saved my life. Won’t find this story written anywhere in the mainstream media, though.”
