40-year-old Veteran Spanish tennis player Feliciano Lopez is the current director of the Madrid Open. A few days back, He won the doubles title at Acapulco with the Greek player, Stefanos Tsitsipas. Recently, Lopez talked about Djokovic’s chances of playing at the Madrid Open.

“I’ve been getting asked about this a lot lately. After what happened in Australia, it seems that the main problem is knowing where Novak will be able to be and where he will be able to play. In the end, we as a tournament do not have the power to decide who can go and who cannot. The message that was sent from Australia or interpreted by many people was very confusing,” Lopez stated (Google Translate).

“I hope that in the month of May, Spain will be as it is now, that the Covid continues to decline, that my country is fine, that people stop dying, that everything goes better, and that the restrictions are minimal or there are none. And that everyone can enter freely and that is what we want and what we expect. In that case, Novak will be welcome like all players,” Lopez further stated.

Another Spaniard, Pablo Carreno Busta, also shared his opinion on Novak

Currently, 16-ranked ATP player Pablo Carreno Busta also talked about Djokovic’s decision not to take the covid vaccine. “In the end, it is a personal decision and I cannot get involved if it is correct or not. He has his principles and thinks about what is good for him from his point of view. If he has decided not to be vaccinated, you have to respect him,” Carreno Busta said (Google Translate) in an interview.

In the meantime, Djokovic hasn’t decided what tournament he will play after losing in the quarterfinals at the Dubai Open. At the moment, almost every tournament imposed a vaccine mandate for players to participate. As a result, he has to wait for any rule change from the tournaments, or else he has to take the vaccine.
