Novak Djokovic has a stronghold in the never-ending GOAT debate which includes his rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Statistically, the Serb has everything in his favor, but the debate is still subjective to some extent. Even though he has his fair share of critics, there’s barely anything separating him from his rivals, given how he has dominated the sport for over a decade. Over the years, several former players and coaches have hailed the 23-time major champion as the greatest. A familiar name has joined the train and expressed his love and support for the Serb giant.
He also happens to share a special relationship with Djokovic. But, was his choice based on his close bond with the Serb or did he have a solid reason? Let’s find out.

Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic has been a part of Djokovic’s team for over four years now. The Balkan duo has won eight slams together with their eyes set on the ninth. Recently, the Croatian spoke as an ambassador for the Sergio Tacchini store at Selfridges.
When asked about his opinion on the GOAT debate, he said via Express, “For me, Novak is the greatest for me in everything, by results. Roger maybe played the most attractive tennis. But they all helped each other to become better players. First Roger, then Rafa and Novak came, the rivalry between these three guys was amazing. They made tennis a better sport and they all love tennis. But you have to choose somebody, some people prefer Roger or Nadal… for me, it’s Novak.”
Ivanisevic and Djokovic have one of the best player-coach relationships. While the Croatian has always lauded Djokovic’s achievements, the Serb also holds him in great regard.
