Rafael Nadal is safely through to the second week of Wimbledon after his win over Italian Lorenzo Sonego on Saturday. However, there was a moment of controversy when Nadal called his opponent to the net exchanging a few words during the match.

The Spaniard came out on top in straight sets but did not seem too pleased with his opponent’s shouting later in the match. The pair would later have another go at it after the match exchanging words for the second time on Centre Court.
Nadal opens up on the controversial win
The 22-time Grand Slam champion is aiming to break more records in the sport. However, after his match, Nadal delivered his thoughts on sportsmanship in the game. He?said,??Ethics is a difficult line to?analyse, because things that may be right(correct) for you may be wrong(incorrect) for me.”
“It is difficult to set the limit. I think everyone have to go to bed calm with the things you have done.?If you can’t sleep or be satisfied with yourself, it’s because you did something unethical,” he added. Nadal will now face Dutchman Botic Van de Zandschulp in the Round of 16.

Nadal is on course to claim an astounding 23rd Grand Slam title this season. With big names missing from the draw, the former World No.1 could have an easier path to yet another final. Nadal has overcome all odds in 2022, winning the first two Grand Slams this year in Melbourne and Paris.
Interestingly, Nadal was absent from half of the 2021 season after undergoing foot surgery. His return stunned the tennis world as he continues to widen the gap over his long-time rivals?Novak Djokovic?and?Roger Federer.
