There are only a few names on the men’s tour who have picked up their racket in order to follow in the footsteps of their tennis star parents. One such player is Sebastian Korda who is the son of the ATP veteran, Petr Korda. The 55-year-old was regarded as one of the elite competitors during the 90s era, having won a Grand Slam title.
On top of this, the former Australian Open champion also established himself in the top 3 spots of the men’s rankings during his heydays. Now, after his retirement, it is his son who has realized his duty and the expectations to fill the void left by the legendary player. And with a desire to surpass his father’s legacy, the American tennis star recently brought to light his ‘ultimate Grand Slam goal’.

In a press conference, the current world No. 26 was recently asked whether he faces any pressure coming from a very successful sporting family. Korda, however, asserted that his father’s remarkable tennis achievements don’t necessarily put any pressure on him as he is just playing the sport that he loves.
In the process, the young ATP star made his stance crystal clear that he wants to establish a better Grand Slam legacy than his father. He said, “Obviously, I would love to be better than my dad. My ultimate goal in tennis is to win two Grand Slams, one more than my dad.”

Korda was two match victories away from a major triumph
The current world No. 26 faced a number of initial round defeats in Grand Slam events during his season. However, Korda experienced a breakthrough campaign at the Australian Open where he reached his first-ever quarterfinal round of a major tournament. The American brushed aside two top 10 players, Daniil Medvedev Hubert Hurkacz, as he enjoyed his deepest Grand Slam run in Melbourne. Korda was then two match victories away from his maiden major triumph but he had to pull out after the second set of his quarterfinal match against Karen Khachanov due to a wrist injury.
