Becoming a great athlete is never a one-man job. It requires tons of support from those around you. Former World No.1 Boris Becker recently dropped interesting news about his newfound association with tennis. In a podcast by Eurosport, Becker announced that he will be coaching the 20-year-old, Holger Rune. As of now, he only indicated that it will be for the remaining season of 2023.
This coach-and-trainee partnership is going to be one of a kind. Becker, in his time, was deemed a player not to be messed with. Rune needs all the support he can get and Becker seems to be an amazing source of that support. He also mentioned about Aneke Rune in the interview.

Becker, while mentioning Rune, touched many topics that were quite important. He talked about Rune’s performance and his potential. Becker sure was quite happy to be training the young Danish star. He also addressed the most important person in this whole equation.
In his interview with Eurosport, he said: “The most important person in the team is mother Aneke; without her, nothing works.” Well, a mother is indeed quite important for any person; however, it is a tad bit different in Rune’s case. Boris goes on to explain how she has a major involvement in Rune’s progress. Per him: “I’m on the phone with her four times a day at the moment to find out exactly how Holger is doing.”
He politely states that getting Rune back on his feet and in the best form possible is the end goal. Both he and Rune’s mother are giving everything to make that happen. In his words: “It’s all a puzzle that we have to put together so that the boy plays his best tennis.” To enjoy his best years in the sport, it is important for Holger Rune to make an amazing comeback.

Rune’s performance in 2023
The Dane was moving on the right track at the beginning of 2023. However, his back injury caused a major disruption in his smooth sailing. Rune was positioned at the 4th spot in the world, but his recent losses dragged him to the 6th spot.
Holger tried to make his comeback at many events. However, he remained unsuccessful in his pursuit. But it looks like Boris’ involvement will improve his overall performance. Boris said: “He has me, he has his performance coach. That’s enormously important, because nowadays people train very differently than they used to.” Becker brings a new zest to the table that Rune is in great need of.
