At such a young age, the Spanish tennis sensation has already caught the tennis world’s eyes with his awe-inspiring displays on the tennis court. He is enjoying the best season of his tennis career, winning the Wimbledon Championships and a bunch of other titles on the ATP Tour. As he gears up for the US Open, the World Number 1 has a chance to match Roger Federer’s unique record.
In 2008, the Swiss maestro successfully defended his US Open title. Moreover, it was his fifth straight title in New York. Since then, no ATP player has been able to successfully defend his title at Flushing Meadows. However, things could change as Alcaraz steps onto the court in New York.

During an interview, the Spanish tennis star talked about what he does in order to succeed at the highest level. Pressure can take its toll while playing consistently at the top level as expectations continue to rise. However, Alcaraz has a way of dealing with it effectively.
Talking about the matter, he said, “Mentally, we’re going to try to forget that I’m defending the title, we’re just going to focus match by match, show our best level in each match and see if at the end of it all I play at my best level and can get the second title here.”
The Spaniard will be looking to end 2023 on a high in the upcoming tournaments. Success in New York will enable him to achieve a first – of defending the US Open crown years after Federer did it in 2008. With possible glory on the cards for the Spaniard, tennis legend John McEnroe bestowed huge praise on Alcaraz, snubbing the likes of the Big Three.

McEnroe lauds Alcaraz on his incredible form
Just a while ago, the American tennis legend spoke highly about Alcaraz. The Spaniard has been having the best season of his tennis career. McEnroe said, “I think that the way he plays is absolutely spectacular. He?s the most complete 20-year-old I?ve ever seen, and that includes Novak and Roger and Rafa. He seems to me like he?s pretty much great at everything.?
