After not playing professional tennis for two months due to a foot injury, Rafael Nadal finally returned to the court at the Citi Open 2021. Even though he didn’t get the desired results, he won a tough match in the first round against Jack Sock. He then showed up at the National Bank Open 2021 but later withdrew as he was not fit enough to play.
Keeping in mind his injury, fans and experts are doubtful whether Rafael Nadal will play at the US Open 2021 or not. Interestingly, he is not even featuring at the ongoing Cincinnati Masters this year.
After a lot of complications World No.4 Nadal recently decided to withdraw from the US Open 2021. Interestingly, he will not be playing any match in the remaining of the 2021 season as he announced that he would end his season with immediate effect. It appears that Rafa has not recovered completely from his injury and thus, will not like to take any risks.

The US Open 2021 will begin on August 30, 2021 and will run till September 12, 2021. Just like 2020, fans will miss the services of both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer this year as well.

Nadal has had a great record at the US Open in his career so far. He has won won four US Open titles and finished as the runner-up on one occasion. Interestingly, all his four US Open titles came in the last decade.
Rafa enjoys the topspin which the hard surfaces in New York offer. It’s this specific feature of the Flushing Meadows which makes it favorable for him, despite Rafa not being the biggest fan of hard-courts.

It is a heartbreaking moment for Rafael Nadal fans that the Spaniard will not play at the US Open this year. However, they hope that he recovers soon and makes an incredible comeback on the court next year. It’ll be interesting to see where Rafa finishes in the ATP Rankings by the end of the year.
