The 20-year-old Danish tennis player, Holger Rune finally got to see light at the end of the tunnel. The defending champion produced a comfortable victory over Daniel Altmaier by a 6-3,6-3 margin at the Round of 16 in Paris Masters. He’s now set to meet the former student of his current coach in the Quarterfinals. Who is he?

The number 7 currently puts Boris Becker on the spot as he faces the world number one, Novak Djokovic in his next match. Holger Rune had earlier defeated Djokovic in the finals of last year’s tournament. He had denied the Serb of his 7th Paris Masters title last time. Can he repeat that once again? We’ll wait and see.

But with the inclusion of the 55YO and 6-time Grand Slam singles title winner in his squad, he now looks to change his fortune. Rune had recently made it to the semis of Swiss Indoors in his first match with the former coach of Djokovic- Boris Becker. An instant effect?

Boris Becker is a well-known coach around the tennis world. He has contributed enormously to the career of the Serbian, who is the current number one in the men’s circuit. The duo went on to win 6 major titles in their 3 years tenure. Now the Danish icon in tennis looks for his first Grand Slam win and a top 5 finish partnering with the German. After his win over Altmaier in Paris, Rune shared a post calling his victory a ‘Teamwork‘. Boris Becker was seen celebrating his win in the background in the video. Holger Rune looks to end the season on a higher note by making it through to the season-ending-tournament

Holger Rune was the first alternate in the ATP Finals last year. But this year the number 7 looks to seal the spot to Turin with his performance in Paris.
