Roger Federer departed the court in the previous season after establishing an unparalleled legacy in the tennis community. A significant void has been left in the sport as a result of the Swiss Maestro’s retirement, and it is the next generation who must fill it. It appears that some members of the Federer family itself have now accepted the responsibility of stepping in to fill the void left by the 20-time Grand Slam singles champion.

According to the former tennis ace’s new disclosures, his kids have decided to pick up their rackets and have further been inclined toward the game. In order to make sure that his children would follow in his footsteps, Federer recently revealed how he turned to the ATP legends Rafael Nadal and John McEnroe for giving wings to young dreams.

In his recent interview with WSJ, the Swiss Maestro said that he rarely plays tennis now, other than with his children. Considering his recent revelation, Federer was asked how his kids feel about the sport in which he has amassed a number of accolades.

The 20-time singles Grand Slam champion revealed that all his four kids love to play tennis while they are also ardently keeping up with it. During the initial phase, his daughters didn’t like it as much, however, they are now enjoying the game and winning points on the court.

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old also opened up about how his children have also been practicing at Rafael Nadal and John McEnroe’s renowned tennis institutions. He added, “They were up at [John] McEnroe Academy in East Hampton, and the boys were in Mallorca at the [Rafael Nadal] camp for a couple of days.”

Apart from their training sessions in the tennis legends’ institutions, Federer himself has been providing some guidance to his kids.

Federer dons the tennis coach hat for his kids

In his recent conversation, the former tennis ace has made it clear that he is leaving no stone unturned in his kids’ tennis coaching and preparations. The former world No. 1 discussed how he always makes an effort to teach his kids some of his insight through their on-court meetings.

As a father and not a tennis veteran, Federer asserted that he thinks of their brief coaching sessions as an interesting dynamic. He said, “It’s obviously an interesting dynamic because I’m the dad and not a former player. It is what it is [laughing].”
