British ATP star Andy Murray wishes to “wait until the last minute” before deciding on Wimbledon. The 37-year-old player revealed that his decision “is not clear-cut” about joining the court where he stood twice as champion (2013 and 2016). Given this scenario, Murray is compared to Djokovic, who in all likelihood, will appear in Wimbledon unless any last-minute issue appears. In the meantime, Djokovic’s former coach, Boris Becker, rushes to Murray’s rescue. Stating that Murray “has earned the right to decide” his Wimbledon participation, Boris Becker delights the fraternity with his intense admiration for the British tennis player.

Boris Becker took to his official Twitter account to share his support for British ATP player Andy Murray ahead of the upcoming Wimbledon. “Sir Andrew Murray, after all his accomplishments in tennis ( particularly at Wimbledon), has earned the right to decide when he is ready to play tennis again, period!”- tweeted Becker.

This is not clear cut where I am 100% going to be ready to play or there is a 0% chance that I can play. That is the situation. I would say it’s probably more unlikely that I’m not able to play singles right now. I’m also f****** doing rehab 24/7 to try to give myself that opportunity to play there again”- Murray said in an interview with UK’s Express Magazine in June.

Now, although the singles list is due today, Murray and his elder brother Jamie Murray received wildcards to enter Wimbledon’s doubles. Despite the uncertainty, Andy Murray expressed his desire to play at Wimbledon one last time before retirement. “It’s complicated, and it’s made more complicated because I want to play at Wimbledon one more time,”- said the British Wimbledon champion.

Well, I would never rule Andy out, As long as he has fun, as long as he enjoys it, and as long as he has success, he will continue. I was worried a couple of years ago when he did the press conference and said it was most likely his last one because it was before his surgery so he didn’t know if he would come back. We moved past that, and I think he is physically fit enough, but obviously, the tennis circuit doesn’t sleep and Andy doesn’t get younger either“- Becker said. It was after Murray lost to Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the Australian Open tour’s first round.

Nevertheless, Boris Becker’s support for Murray’s decision about Wimbledon 2024 shows the legendary coach’s respect and admiration for the former Wimbledon champion. It showcased how players like Murray have created a strong fanbase among tennis legends with their amazing skill and talent.
