Will Novak Djokovic play at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships or will he opt to take a rest ahead of the Paris Olympics? Well, not only Nole fans but also his rivals are waiting for this answer at the moment. Although he has himself stated that he’ll let everyone know about his decision on this in the next few days, all the permutations and combinations surrounding his withdrawal have already started to come in. Who will benefit the most if the Serbian tennis star withdraws from this event? Perhaps Storm Hunter has the right answer to this question!
The 29-year-old Australian tennis pro recently appeared at The AO Show. The topic of the Wimbledon main draw ceremony for singles came up, which is set to take place on Friday, June 28 at 10 am local time in London. She highlighted the fact that Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal from this tournament may prove to be beneficial for her compatriot Alex de Minaur, who is currently ranked 9th in the world. He has been in great form this year and has already clinched two titles this year, but the first-round exit at the Queen’s Club Championship has pushed him outside of the Top 8.
Had he been seeded in the Top 8, Alex de Minaur would’ve been guaranteed to avoid playing a higher-ranked rival until the QF of Wimbledon. Now, he will have to wait and watch what Novak Djokovic does. If he withdraws, then de Minaur will become the 8th seed. Reflecting on the same, Hunter said, “I think the top eight just gives you that little bit not as definitely not an easier draw. No means but yeah, just not coming up against maybe yeah, top eight player in the round of 16.“

She further went on to add, “And ‘Demon’s’ doing amazing. He’s doing great. I think he’s actually yeah, in for a really good one Wimbledon pending the draw as well.” Alex de Minaur has been in red-hot form throughout most of the season this year. He currently has a win-loss record of 33-12 this season, but he has never reached further than the fourth round in Wimbledon.
On the other hand, Novak Djokovic was recently spotted training in London with a large compression bandage on his right knee. With the draws knocking at the door, what are his thoughts about taking part in this tournament?

During an interview with BBC, the 7-time Wimbledon champion stated, “I didn’t come here to play a few rounds. You can never really know 100 percent once you start a tournament what’s going to happen after the eventual first match or second match.” All he now wants is to take it day by day and then make a decision based on how he and his other teammates feel about his recovery. “If I know that I can play close to my maximum, or at maximum, then I’ll play. If not, then I’ll give somebody else the chance to play,” Djokovic added.
Despite having a lot of people questioning his form and injury issues over the last few months, there are few who this he is still a real threat. One of them is former tennis player, Greg Rusedski, and according to him, “Djokovic wants to play for a very long time: he is the greatest athlete I have ever seen. Forgetting or no longer considering the Serbian player would be a mistake. I think instead that he will come back for revenge.” Do you think Djokovic can match Federer’s 8 Wimbledon titles record this year?
