Federer's dapper return to Wimbledon—Does anyone else even come close to his style and grace?

The moment many tennis fans have been eagerly awaiting is finally here. Roger Federer might have hung up his racquets, but nothing can keep him away from his beloved grass courts. As the Grand Slam unfolds, the Swiss Maestro has made a much-anticipated return to Wimbledon, delighting his fans and the entire tennis community alike. The legendary tennis player, Federer, was spotted with a classy look as he marked his return to the Wimbledon courts.

Donning black shades, Federer was seen walking towards the court in a cheerful spirit, with a smile that reflected the joy of being back on grass. The tennis great will soon be seen taking a glimpse of the match of his fiercest rival, Novak Djokovic, who will face Jacob Fearnley in the second round at the Centre court. The Swiss Maestro’s appearance comes just a day after his wife Mirka Federer was spotted in the stands along with their kids.

Mirka was spotted by the TV cameras on Wednesday evening, where she was seen taking in the all-Italian clash between world No. 1 Jannik Sinner and 2021 runner-up Matteo Berrettini. She flashed up on the screen early in the second set and was seen engaging in a chat with one of her twin daughters in a trademark ‘RF’ cap.

Mirka’s appearance had already given hints to the tennis community who expected the ‘king’ himself to visit the courts soon. In fact, a correspondent of The Times had confirmed that Federer will hit the All England Club on Thursday. The tennis legend played his last match in 2021 but has made visits to the venue in 2022 as well as 2023. Federer had himself confirmed that he would return to Wimbledon this year as well.

Speaking during one of the premieres of his latest documentary, FEDERER: Twelve Final Days, the legend had revealed that he would visit Wimbledon courts. “Yeah, making plans. Kids are pushing me there as again. I’m happy at home, but the kids said ‘No we want to come to Wimbledon this year. You were last year without us.” And his presence is obvious given the magnanimous record of 8 slams that he has won on this venue. Meanwhile, one of the greatest athletes of his era, Federer does not want his children to get into sports.

Federer has observed the sports arena closely. Having been through the thicks and thins of tennis himself, he is now a father who does not want his children to pursue a career in sports. Recently, Federer engaged in an interaction with People and shared that he was happy about his daughters not liking tennis.

“But the girls were never passionate about tennis, and I was relieved about it,” Federer says of twin girls Charlene and Myla, 15, and twin boys Leo and Lenny, 10. However, he could not help his son Leo from getting attracted to his father’s favorite sport.

The boys love their soccer. Leo is starting to show interest in getting serious about tennis. Lenny is much more creative, he’s very into drawing, reading.” While the Swiss Maestro did not advocate his children to get into sports, he said that would definitely support them even if they got into it. “I’ll jump on the court with them whenever they want.”

As the grass-court Grand Slam progresses, it will be interesting to see if Roger Federer’s record of winning 8 titles gets equated by one of his biggest rivals Novak Djokovic. Can Djokovic defy the odds to win the title? Only time will tell.
