Another massive heartbreak for the tennis fans! The first one came at the French Open. Everyone was anticipating a miracle when Rafael Nadal confirmed his presence at the tournament he has won 14-times. However, the Spaniard suffered a first-round exit at the hands of Alexander Zverev. And now, he has crushed the hopes of his fans with another unpleasant shock. As fans were gearing up for the 22-time Grand Slam champion to regain his form and play another major, as the calendar proceeds. Contrary to the hopes, Rafa has confirmed his absence from the upcoming major- The Wimbledon Open!

After the recovery from the surgery to cure his almost perennial injury, Rafa may not play a lot of matches where the Spaniard is anticipated to lose without a chance at the trophy. As Ignasi Rosell, RTVE Deportes reporter, confirmed through his tweet. He said, “RAFA NADAL  will not play #Wimbledon. It was to be expected and this has been confirmed by David Ferrer. The Spaniard focuses on the games, where he hopes to reach a high level to fight for medals.”

Though Nadal has only claimed two Grand Slam at the Wimbledon, that too, over a decade ago, fans were expecting to watch Nadal play on Grass, maybe for the last time. As Nadal’s last two Grand Slam wins, are considered nothing short of a miracle, particularly his 14th Roland Garros title. However, since long the Spaniard has consistently struggled with his foot/hip injury.

But this year at the Roland Garros another one was added to the list, abdominal issues! Certainly, age is catching up with the Spaniard. The 38-year-old, not only needs to regain his form but also has to compete with the younger generation as they make their presence felt on the tennis circuit. Despite the retirement rumors, Nadal may not be ready to give up without an attempt to achieve final glory and exit with the crown!

Carlos Alcaraz rises into the sky, as Rafael Nadal sets into the horizon. And to give himself a final shot at the medal- maybe the Olympics, they are collaborating! The 22-time Grand Slam champion looks forward to representing Spain in Paris. As per the Spanish commentator, Juanma Castano predicted about Rafa wanting to join hands with the new French Open champion, “And from there Rafa wants to convince Carlos Alcaraz to play a tournament together on land and if not they will go directly to the Olympic Games, that the tennis tournament starts on July 27.”

Spanish superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz will not only compete in singles, but also join forces as a formidable doubles team. This dream pairing becomes even more exciting considering the Olympic tennis tournament will be held at Roland Garros, Nadal’s clay-court kingdom. “My main goal now is to play Olympics. That’s going to be here. So I need to prepare myself the proper way to try to arrive here healthy and well prepared, and then let’s see,” Nadal said after his stunning defeat on 27 May against Alexander Zverev.
