Does Djokovic's celebration for his daughter make him the most relatable tennis star on the court?

A daughter is a father’s princess, every parent would agree. Ask Novak Djokovic, who has a special relationship with his 6-year-old daughter, Tara. The Serb is often spotted sharing adorable moments with her and makes sure to spend quality time when away from the court. Yesterday, he even dedicated a special celebration to her, who is learning a new activity.

Djokovic is participating in the Wimbledon Championships after undergoing surgery on his knee. Despite fitness issues looming, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has looked sharp on the court and overcame the challenge of Alexei Popyrin of Australia in the third round yesterday. Subsequently, he celebrated his win in a special way, doing the action of ‘playing a violin.’ During the post-match interview, he reportedly explained why he made that action.

The Serb’s daughter, Tara, has been learning to play the violin and Djokovic dedicated the celebration to her daughter learning this new skill. He revealed, “That was for Tara. My [daughter] has been playing violin for some time already, six months, and we agreed that I would celebrate that way.”

While doing that action, Djokovic pointed toward his player’s box as his wife and daughter celebrated his win. Additionally, he also gave them a flying kiss and proved how much their support meant for his successful comeback. Indeed, it was a heartwarming moment for the Djokovic family as the Serb found success on the court.

However, this is not the only time Djokovic has publicly shown affection toward his daughter. After winning the US Open title last year, the Serb celebrated his 24th Grand Slam triumph by hugging his 6-year-old daughter Tara, who was present in the stands. Interestingly, it’s Djokovic’s son who seems more into tennis, as just yesterday he was seen imitating his dad smashing the ball against Popyrin!

On the other hand, his daughter is more interested in other activities, like musical instruments. The Serb once explained how he and his wife, Jelena, divide responsibilities as far as their children’s upbringing is concerned.

Novak Djokovic and his wife use their contrasting skills for children’s upbringing

While Djokovic is more responsible for the physical side of things and making sure that his children stay active, Djokovic’s wife Jelena takes care of the intellectual side of things and helps them in their studies. During an interview, Djokovic beautifully described how the two use their contrasting skill sets to imbibe precious values in their children.

The Serb mentioned, “Mom is more responsible for the intellectual side and books and taking care of their brain. I’m more responsible for the movement and for their physical development that is affecting, of course, everything else. I’m just glad to see them being active and being outdoors. For me, that’s the key.”

With his family’s support behind him, Djokovic is soaring high at the ongoing Wimbledon Championships, putting on impressive performances in his first three matches. However, he will have his task cut out against Holger Rune, whom he faces next in the fourth round. It’ll be interesting to see if Djokovic can win a record 25th major title on the grass courts at Wimbledon.
