The calls for justice are growing louder. As Wimbledon draws near, the organizers are facing widespread backlash for alleged bias and injustice in the distribution of Wild Cards to star players. Chaos has erupted once again as fans rally behind a beloved tennis figure, Milos Raonic, demanding fairness and transparency.

The Canadian star player has displayed some exceptional skills on the grass courts, lately. He was the quarterfinalist at the Rosmalen Grass Court championship and even troubled his opponents in the Queen’s Club despite a second-round exit. Besides, his runner-up title in 2016 Wimbledon, made him a promising player to receive the Wild Card from the organizers. But interestingly, the organizers decided otherwise.

In a display of shocking decision, all the seven wildcards in the Gentlemen Singles’ category were given to the players of Great Britain. This angered tennis fans worldwide who called out the committee for making a biased decision. Meanwhile, controversy has once again erupted over the name of Milos Raonic, who was also sidelined from the Wild Card list.

‘That was shocking’ – Fans in dismay as Milos Raonic fails to receive Wimbledon wildcard

Taking to X on Monday, a journalist highlighted the the unfairness of the situation, “Still quite shocked to see that Wimbledon did not bestow a wildcard on 2016 finalist Milos Raonic.” As soon as the post gained traction, several other users joined the fray to express similar sentiments and lashed out at the organizers.

Responding to the tweet, a user reiterated the dreadful decision. “I agree, that was shocking. Along with the final Milos has had other good results at Wimbledon as well.” The Canadian star has had some sensational matches on the grass court. In 2016, he portrayed an amazing display of skills and reached the finals of the tournament. While he was defeated in the finals by Andy Murray 6–4, 7–6(7–3), 7–6(7–2), his performance still remains one of the most remarkable at the venue.

Another user responded similarly. Highlighting the recent record that the 33-year-old made, the user wrote, “Yes. I would like to see if he could break his own ace record! That was a crazy match.” For the unversed, the Canadian player made a new record for the most number of matches in the recently concluded Queen’s Club Championship. During his first-round win over Cameron Norrie, the star player hit 47 aces breaking the record of 45 in a best-of-three match. This record was previously hailed by Ivo Karlovic for around a decade. Another user joined in to make a Dominic Thiem comparison.

Recalling the same match, the user compared Raonic to Thiem. “This is Wimbledon’s Domi Thiem moment. Literally played one of the best games of the grass season two weeks ago and they cbf giving the bloke a wild card 🤷” Surprisingly, Dominic Thiem was also not given a wildcard, by the organizers which had angered the fans equally. Meanwhile, another user joined in to recall an iconic match.

Goran Ivanisevic crushed Tim Henman‘s dream of a place in the Wimbledon final by battling back from two sets to one down to win in five sets. Ultimately he was defeated in the match, 7-5 6-7 0-6 7-6 6-3.
