Carlos Alcaraz has had the attention of all pundits and fans ever since he burst onto the scene. His similarities with fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal were conspicuous, and for all the right reasons, Alcaraz is touted to be the next big thing in tennis. But as they say, to be considered the best, you have to prove your mettle the best. Therefore, his mouthwatering French Open semifinal clash against Novak Djokovic is all the more important.

Ahead of the match, Toni Nadal shared some advice for Djokovic, in an exclusive interview with Eurosport. “If you try to play aggressive and at high speed you will find yourself a superior opponent, but if you decide to play consistent you will need to have a very high level of precision because otherwise you will be exposed to Carlos’ winning shots. In any case, no one should rule it out”, he said.

Whatever the outcome, a historic last few days await us at the French Open. Novak Djokovic is looking to become the first man in history to win 23 singles grand slam titles, which will see him overtake his great rival, and Uncle Toni’s nephew, Rafael Nadal.

It will be distressing for all Rafael Nadal fans to watch Djokovic surpass him at his favorite tournament, but will surely make it all the more historic. But even if he is beaten by young Carlos Alcaraz today, it will probably mark the end of the old guard, cementing the position of the next-gen, with Alcaraz at its helm.
