What’s next for Rafael Nadal after his retirement? This question has been going around since the Spanish maestro called it a day. Would he take up the coaching role for one of the youngsters or top players, as did Andy Murray recently? Or is there something else in store, for everyone knows about Rafael Nadal’s love of Golf and soccer? The rumors of Nadal taking up the president’s post at his favorite soccer team keep circulating. However, his uncle Toni Nadal quashed those, as he speculated about his future.

Nadal has previously expressed his desire to take up the president’s post at Real Madrid. However, there has always been uncertainty around it. But now, that Nadal is relatively free from professional tennis commitments, the rumors of him taking up the president’s role at Real Madrid have been doing rounds again. However, according to Toni Nadal, it’s just wishful thinking right now.

If Toni’s words are taken into account, the Real Madrid management is happy right now. Hence, there might be no change at the top. Moreover, Nadal himself is not willing to stand against the current president. In a conversation with Radio Marca, Toni said, “I am totally convinced that Rafael would not stand up to Florentino Pérez because he is very happy with his management.”

The current president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, had 2 stints with the team. Once from 2000 to 2006, which was a dark era for Madrid, as despite signing big names, they were unable to embark on a winning journey. And the 2nd stint was in 2009. However, lessons were learned and applied. Consequently, Real Madrid turned the tables. Perez has stayed in his position as president ever since. And every Madrid fan seems to be content with it. Moreover, Perez is a businessman as well and he has a massive net worth of $2.8Bn.

Nadal has a deep bond with Real Madrid. And during a controversial moment in Nadal’s career, Madrid came out in support of their honorary member.

Rafael Nadal’s love for Real Madrid is no mystery. The tryst between Real Madrid and Nadal is one of a kind. Back in 2016, the former French sports secretary accused Nadal of doping in 2012, after he was out for the season due to injury. Though the Spaniard vehemently denied the rumors. However, he was not alone. Real Madrid too defended Nadal, regarding the controversy. They released an official statement backing the tennis great.

It’s not unfathomable for fans to assume that Rafael Nadal could take over the role of the president of Real Madrid. However, that’s for the future. According to Uncle Toni Nadal though, we may see Rafa as the captain of the Spanish team at the Davis Cup sooner and that’s something the fans would be looking forward to as well.
