ATP also released an official statement around this by adding, “A significant shared commitment to enhancing global tennis for players, fans, tournament organizers and stakeholders at all levels of the sport.” Along with ATP, the PIF will also be partnering with other tennis tournaments including Beijing, ATP Finals, Miami, Madrid, Indian Wells, etc.

In an interview with The National, Andy Murray talked about how he is not aware of all the details of the partnership. He also added that he does not know what sponsoring the events means for Saudi’s PIF. Further, he also expressed his concern stating, “One of my concerns is actually more about the investment in lower levels of the game and the grassroots of the sport. I think that’s extremely important.

Murray also shared that he knows that this partnership can bring in more money for the sport but he wants to ensure that this is not just invested to the top of the game but taken to the grassroots level as well.
