However, talking about his personal life, the Spanish maestro was in a longtime relationship with Maria Francisca. Also referred to as Xisca Perello. Nadal and Perello met in school and have been together since they were teenagers. The couple was in a relationship since 2005. As Rafa has always kept his personal life very private, there was largely no news about it for very long.
Perello and Nadal’s Relationship
It didn’t take long for the world to notice as the love between the two blossomed and Perello started getting the attention of the media when she started visiting on tour to watch her boyfriend in action. Although the 34-year-old doesn’t like attention and tried to keep her relationship as private as possible. In an interview with The Telegraph, she spoke about the same.
“The fact is that I just don’t feel comfortable talking about these things, even in private. It’s what works for me, and what works for Rafael and me as a couple. We wouldn’t have it any other way.” She said.
The couple got engaged in 2018. However, Nadal was disappointed with the leak of his private information and was not ready to give any information regarding his marriage date and venue.
When Did Rafael Nadal Get Married?
The couple tied the knot on October 19, 2019. At the La Fortaleza castle in Majorca, Spain. Although the couple had kept it private for long, the wedding had a good number of guests invited.
The list numbered around 350 and featured some big names as well. Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Laurie were a few of the notable guests present at the occasion. The rules seemed to be pretty strict regarding the photography as the guests were asked not to take pictures from their cellphones.

Interacting with the media briefly after his marriage, Nadal expressed his happiness and said that it is a great day and he had been preparing for it for a long time.
Tennis Players at Nadal’s Wedding
The tennis stars present at Nadal’s wedding were Carlos Moya, David Ferrer, and Uncle Tony. However, to everyone’s surprise, the other two big three players, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, didn’t attend the wedding. It was strange as the other two have been his strongest rivals and are good friends off the court.
Why Were Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic Not Present at the Wedding?
Swiss tennis star Roger Federer revealed he has not received an invitation to the wedding. Also, he was even unaware of the wedding location. However, Federer later congratulated Nadal on his auspicious day.
Talking about Djokovic, the Serb was also not one of the guests invited to the wedding. Notably, the guests invited were more family and friends from both the bride and groom’s sides. Although a few very close tennis players made it to the list, they missed the major stars.

The couple is married for over two years now. While Nadal is still piling up records. As the lady luck seems to have worked for the 35-year-old. Xisca has been helping her husband run the Rafael Nadal Academy. She works as the Director of Strategy and Relations with Institutions for Nadal’s Foundation.
Although, the growing age has taken a toll on Nadal’s body. The champion player has been known for his grit and perseverance. Notably, after missing out on a major chunk of the 2021 season to his injury, the 34-year-old star made a stunning comeback at the start of the year 2022 to register an excellent come from behind win against Daniil Medvedev to win the Australian Open.
