But for someone like Karen Khachanov, it was not a sweet yet endearing moment when he first saw his now wife. It was a silly incident, which blossomed into a beautiful love story. Life certainly works in mysterious ways as one finds love in most unexpected places!

Khachanov’s love story with his wife, Veronika Shkliaeva, began way back, when they both were kids. “I have known Veronika since 8 years old,” he had said. And further went on to reveal the silly encounter, which made Shkliaeva mad at him. No, they didn’t meet on the playground or tennis court, catching ball, but on an airport mishap. Khachanov was unable to “make a good first impression” What did his 8-year-old self do?

Like every energetic kid at the airport, he “was playing with a baggage cart.” But he was so engrossed in the fun that he forgot to pay attention around him and as a result, there was a crash as Khachanov hit her. And he further shared the response of his now wife. He said, “She told her mother, “What an idiot!” . Though they knew each other since childhood, they only started dating in 2011. And got married in 2016.

Today, the couple likes to keep their personal life private, but they certainly share a few glimpses of their milestones with the fans. They already have a beautiful family, filled with the laughter of their 5-year-old son, David. However, not many would be aware of his wife’s family. Particularly the sister, as Veronika is not the only member of her family who is married to a tennis player.

It seems the twin sisters not only share their name and face but also their affinity with tennis sports. Khachanov’s wife and her twin share the same name: Veronika, and being twins, they share the same face. But her twin sister is married to the Belarusian tennis star, Ilya Ivashka. And the player made sure to thank his wife, the other Veronika, for her support in his life back in 2021 when he claimed the Winston Salem.

He said, “I want to thank my significant other. She’s generally there, she’s with me constantly, I love you, and this is for you.” 

It’s undoubtedly astonishing to see the twin sisters carrying the same fate with different tennis players. However, Khachanov’s Veronika would be busy cheering him at the Cincinnati Open, as he gets ready to face Alexander Zverev in the Round of 32.
