America’s Marcos Giron is having a dream run in Newport. He has reached the finals of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships and now he’ll be seeking support from his fans to clinch his title against his compatriot Alex Michelsen. Talking about support, well, Giron values his family a lot and he believes they are the ones who have always encouraged him to pursue his passion in the racquet sport. He loves spending quality time with his loved one and Rebecca Dehnel has now become a part of that family! Who’s Rebecca though?

Well, she is the long-time girlfriend of Marcos Giron. As per several reports, Giron started dating Rebecca Dehnel in the middle of -2010s. In March 2016, the American tennis star shared a photo with their dog captioning, “Waking up with bae“. He had even tagged Dehnel in that post. Although the couple has tried to keep their relationship under wraps ever since their initial days. Time and again, their love for each other was reflected through their social media posts. Like for example, in December 2017, they shared a picture of them holding paintings. This perhaps indicated a close connection between the two and now their bond has grown stronger with time. Dehnel is originally from San Diego, California. Her mother is a social worker while her father works in a local non-profit and both of them work for social justice in their communities. Becca grew up with her brother and she also loves pets. She also had four dogs, three horses, two goats, and even a llama. Apart from her love for animals, she has a strong passion for Global Health. Becca has been actively involved in the medical sector. Her dedication to the medical field is evident through her involvement in the PGY-2 program at Long Beach Memorial Family Medicine Residency.

Just like her parents, she has a strong desire to serve underserved communities. Rebecca is particularly passionate about gender-affirming healthcare, refugee and immigrant health, family planning, global health mentorship and training as well as community medicine. Giron’s girlfriend had even attended UC San Diego. Rebecca Dehnel was also awarded the 2021 Edwin Reithmayer, MD Memorial Scholarship. Since 2017, she has been working on issues related to mental health, trauma, and resilience among Syrian refugees.

Becca has now gained a vast experience in the medical field. She had contributed to the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA. Not only that, she has also served as a team leader for the Jumpstart UCLA Ameri-Corps program. Apart from that, Rebecca Dehnel has also worked as a Research Coordinator at UCSD Moore Cancer Center. Her outstanding contributions in the medical field have earned her multiple awards and recognitions, but do you know Giron’s father also has a medical connection?

Putting the spotlight on the other pillars of support in Giron’s career

Giron’s parents Andres and Rosanna Giron played a crucial role his providing him with the stepping stone in the world of racquet sport. His father is a Spanish national and is also a physician by profession. Giron once even revealed that if he wasn’t a tennis player, he’d be a doctor like his father. Because he likes helping people. Tennis was first introduced to his life when he saw his dad enjoy playing the sport with his friends. Giron has a sister named Gabriela, and even she played a key role in giving support to his brother when he needed it the most.

In 2014, Giron faced a shock wave in his family when he heard that his parents had decided to part ways. The tennis star was already going through a rough phase at that time, suffering from a hip injury, and this news literally broke him. Explaining the same he once revealed, “Looking back, I’d tell myself that it would all be okay. With my parents divorced, my girlfriend’s parents divorced and many other people I knew, was there any real point in relationships?“

He added how his sister and his girlfriend played a pivotal role in getting him through that tough phase of his life. Perhaps walking through tough phases hand-in-hand is what made Giron and Becca now closer to each other’s hearts.
