‘What to Do if Mirka Went Into Labour’- When Roger Federer Revealed the Dilemma He Was in During the Birth of His Children

Whether it is outclassing some great players or taking care of his off-court duties, Roger Federer has somehow managed to excel in every role during his illustrious journey. It was his wife, Mirka, who constantly supported and cheered him up irrespective of any situation. Even when she was pregnant, the 44-year-old convinced the Swiss tennis legend to not take any sort of break from Grand Slam events. Federer, on the other hand, was quite nervous at the thought of Mirka going into labor during his participation at Wimbledon.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion detailed his emotional status at that time in the book ‘The Master: The Brilliant Career of Roger Federer’, published in 2021. Let’s see what the retired tennis ace said about his wife’s persuasion to play during the dilemma in London.

The Swiss Maestro was caught up in a situation where he found it hard to balance his parental duties while he was also playing in the Wimbledon Championship. Talking about that period, Roger Federer said that they weren’t just focusing on a certain window.

However, the 20 singles Grand Slam was quite scared as he never knew when their baby could come during his participation in the tournament. So, there were discussions going on between the couple if any such situation arose. Talking about his dilemma in his book, “The Master”,  he said, “There was further discussion at Wimbledon about what to do if Mirka went into labor.”

The 44-year-old, on the other hand, was quite calm about the whole pregnancy situation. She even persuaded him to not take any sort of break during Wimbledon with regard to her maternity issues. Mirka advised the Swiss tennis legend to play his match and not to worry about her. She further said that Federer can’t just run away from that important Grand Slam event because of his off-court duties.

Many fans and colleagues have often lauded Roger and Mirka for the respect and adoration that they have for each other. Even his childhood friend, Marco Chiudinelli has been quite vocal when it comes to praising the couple.

The former tennis player believes that Roger and Mirka are different from the other couples in the tennis community because of their compatibility. In Federer’s book, Chiudinelli also detailed how the 44-year-old has constantly backed and cheered her husband during various tournaments. Just like a slew of other fans, he is also in awe of the Federer couple.
