The lush green lawns of Queen’s Club might be exactly what Tommy Paul needs to claim his top spot in tennis! After surpassing four of his opponents with his back-to-back victories, Paul has secured his spot in the final event, scheduled today. Now, there’s no stopping the former World No. 12! Andy Roddick also seems to agree with this! Betting on his potential to win the tournament and claim his No. 1 spot in America, Roddick exuded confidence in Paul’s skills on-court.

On June 22, Tennis Channel released an X video of an interview with Eugenie Bouchard and Andy Roddick, along with Steve Weissman. The video began with Weissman asking about Tommy Paul’s upcoming final match against Lorenzo Musetti at Queen’s Club and how big of an event it is in itself. The 30-year-old Canadian tennis pro shared her opinion stating, “I know Tommy is very chill about things and sometimes acts like he doesn’t care. But deep down I know he does. And so that’s why he will be very motivated to win this match..”

Speaking about how proud she was when she became the No. 1 player in Canada (2014), Bouchard also added that Paul needs to balance the pressure with care as he begins with his “pretty big final in his career.” Chiming in with his opinion, the former World No. 1 stated, “But I think it’s well deserved from Tommy Paul…Frankly we’ve overlooked Tommy Paul. And he has worked himself. Didn’t just happen. He’s not transitioned from winning Roland Garros Juniors and then it happened instantly right?… He had to learn how to become a little bit more professional on tour.”

He further explained that Brad Stine, the former coach of Jim Courier and the current coach of Paul (since 2020), deserves “a lot of credit,” for his work with him. “So, I would like for this to see this happen for Tommy Paul because of the process because of the fact that he kind of turned his career around very intentionally four or five years ago,” Roddick concluded.
