Tennis players need emotional support as much as they need their physical fitness. For Serena and Venus Williams, their father, Richard, was always present as a father and coach. For Roger Federer, it is his wife, Mirka, and in the recent match of Stefanos Tsitsipas against Andy Murray, his father and his girlfriend, Paula Badosa, were there to cheer for him. Keeping this tradition rolling, the Danish star Holger Rune, who achieved a remarkable feat in this year’s Wimbledon Championships, had his parents as a pillar of support during his fourth-round clash.

Rune defeated Grigor Dimitrov to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. In the post-match conference, he revealed how his family enjoyed his win and who he relies on the most for support.

He said,?“We talked about it after, they had a lot of fun, and you know, it was cool because I was super locked in today. I was really focused, and you know, ready to battle until it was over. You know, my mom was super pumped.”

When asked to elaborate on his mother’s influence on him, the Dane said, “She really helps me, you know, with you know, to kind of keep me in the perfect state of mind. Obviously, she knows me better than anybody, and yeah, I mean, honestly, that’s also why she is traveling with me for every tournament.”

The 20-year-old added, “I want her for every tournament, and I want her there because I really feel the support, and also if I feel like I have something that I wanna get off my heart or something, I can always come to her and talk. So we have this very unique relationship.”?

He also talked about how the crowd was great to him and Dimitrov, and expressed how he feels about receiving such great support.
