Patrick Mouratoglou, one of most respected coaches in tennis at the moment, has been posting consistent content on his YouTube channel. He gives tennis tips and match analysis and also shares his opinions and views on the present state of affairs in tennis. Recently, Mouratoglou provided a different perspective on Alexander Zverev and his racquet smash in Acapulco.

Zverev is under scrutiny and Patrick’s point of view

Patrick is a well-known coach, who guided many former superstars including Marcos Baghdadis, Yanina Wickmayer. His top tutee is Serena Williams as he is also coaching Coco Gauff and Stefanos Tsitsipas currently. 

On Zverev’s case, Patrick said“When I saw the images of Sasha in Acapulco shouting and hitting the chair umpire’s I thought he’s in trouble I mean I realized that he went a bit too far”

Zverev’s actions were hugely criticized by fans and players.. But, the 51-year-old coach feels that it’s one thing to lose temper but still  have to have boundaries. As per Patrick, the German star went a bit too far with his actions.

He further added“Yes it’s bad for his image. I mean, on the long term, people you know forget. If he would have stayed like that, McEnroe would be the most aided guy on the planet and he’s one of the biggest star of tennis”

Patrick’s solution to Alexander Zverev situation

Mouratoglou takes it to the ATP for clear rules and sanctions over such situations. French coach accepts the fact that players are humans too and their frustration could go out of hand sometimes.

On people’s demands for strict actions, Patrick added, “I don’t like when someone makes a mistake and everybody jumps on that person and pulls him down. I think it was a bit too much what people said”

In the end, Patrick acknowledged his views might not go well with some fans. As per the current decision made by ATP, Alexander Zverev is only given eight weeks of suspension which gets implemented only if he gets another code violation in future events.
