Tennis always has its fair share of drama both on and off the court almost every season. That is exactly what Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev are serving up right now, despite it not being that entertaining for them. After a heated third-round match where the Russian star prevailed over the German, Zverev bluntly accused Medvedev of being ‘one of the most unfair players.’ This in return has gotten a blunt reply from Medvedev, crushing out any cordial relationship between them.

Clay court is a highly challenging surface, especially for Medvedev, who has shown his displeasure concerning the slow nature of the surface. Zverev’s comments acted as fuel to the fire right after the Russian star had a taxing battle at the Monte Carlo Masters.

The Russian tennis star is infamous for his unfiltered reactions and comments both on and off the court. So, when Zverev took a dig at him by calling him an “unfair” player, the Russian tennis star did not mold words to suit anyone. During the post-match conference, he bluntly put their relationship into perspective. He stated, “Just gonna say we were never really close friends, maybe only in juniors.”

Throwing shade at him for claiming that they were friends, he said, “Saying something like he was friends with me and my wife, which is definitely not the case since long time. I never said this. So, yeah, it doesn’t disappoint me at all.”

The Russian player has brushed off the remarks for now, however, it comes with a warning. He stated, “But again, if in one week he’s going to continue saying, I’m going to come to him in the locker room and say, “Let’s discuss what’s wrong. Tell me, I’m gonna tell you.”

He further expressed how he doesn’t care how things will end up after the possible confrontation. “Maybe we never gonna speak again, and we are gonna be enemies,” concluded Medvedev.

The banter amongst players is an integral part of any sport, although the players seem to avoid it nowadays. However, like all sports fans, tennis enthusiasts do not mind an exchange of jabs between players from time to time.
