A successful campaigner at the challenger level, Alcaraz displayed his mettle on clay by reaching the semi-finals of the ATP 250 level tournament in Marbella, Spain. The European clay-court stint also witnessed the young Spaniard facing his idol Rafael Nadal in the second-round at Madrid Masters.

Despite losing the matchup in straight sets, Alcaraz got praise for his all-round game from Nadal himself. Since then, the youngster has slowly but steadily began to reach heights on the ATP tour.

On the hard courts, Alcaraz managed to reach the semi-finals of Winston-Salem Open, his best-record on the surface. Also, the Spaniard has a tour-level title to his name as he won a clay-court tournament in Croatia post-Wimbledon.

Being a fan of Rafael Nadal, Alcaraz believes that his playing style matches Roger Federer as he likes to stay aggressive from the baseline and never hesitates to come to the net.
