Team Russia finally lifted their first Davis Cup trophy after a long wait of fifteen years. On the back of stellar performances by World No. 5 Andrey Rublev and World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev, Russia won the Davis Cup against Croatia.

It was Andrey Rublev who won the first match in the singles tie against Borna Gojo in straight sets. Subsequently, Daniil Medvedev eased past Marin Cilic 7-6(7), 6-2 to give Russia their insuperable lead. Thus, the celebrations began.

Surprisingly, it was World No. 2 and fellow teammate Daniil Medvedev, who was the catalyst for Rublev’s frantic champagne antics! The 25-year-old poured a bottle of champagne on Rublev’s face while the latter was right in the middle of a victory selfie.

Consequently, Andrey took matters into his own hands to avenge his ‘ruined’ selfie, chasing down the Russian team’s members as he menacingly uncorked the bottle.
