Tennis maestro Roger Federer is one of the most well-known global sports icons. That is why he has good connections not only in tennis but almost every prominent sport out there. Recently, Federer ran into South African national rugby union team captain Siya Kolisi in Zurich.

At present, the 40-year-old is making the most of his time while recovering from knee surgery. Earlier, Roger and wife Mirka got together with now-retired Tommy Haas and his wife, Sara Foster. And now, he spent quality time with his parents, Robert and Lynette, and Siya Kolisi at the Home of Chocolate in Zurich, Germany.

Roger Federer has a special message for Siya Kolisi’s daughter Keziah Kolisi

Notably, not many know that Federer has deep-rooted ties with South Africa through his mother. Besides, the Swiss maestro has been the rugby champ, Siya Kolisi‘s friend for a long time now.

During the Match in Africa, Kolisi gave Federer the Springbok jersey. Similarly, the 20-time Grand Slam champion admitted he got emotional when Kolisi’s team won the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

This time around, the 30-year-old South Africa turned into a tourist guide for Federer. The Swiss maestro shared their pictures on Twitter. He wrote, “Anyone need a tourist guide? I found a Springbok roaming the streets of Zurich. What a pleasure to see you, Siya.”

Interestingly, Kolisi got Federer to give birthday wishes to her daughter, Keziah Kolisi, from inside the Home of Chocolate. Indeed, it would be itself make for a special gift.

Tennis-wise, the 40-year-old still has a long route before returning to practice. Previously, Federer shared that he would begin light jogging from January next year.

When to expect Federer’s return in 2022?

At first, Federer confirmed that he would not be competing at the Australian Open 2022. In addition, he is looking forward to starting his tennis training in March-April next year.

Accordingly, the Swiss maestro insisted that it would also be “very difficult to play” his beloved tournament, Wimbledon. However, he is hopeful of a return to the ATP Tour in the summer of 2022.

Only time will tell what Federer will bring to the court tennis-wise. One thing’s clear that he will carry the charm wherever he goes, on and off the court.
