Rafael Nadal was at the practice court in Australia yesterday, preparing for his match against Khachanov which he won, 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. His morning session with the coaches had many spectators, and some of them were filming the precious moments of Nadal’s close-up training.

His fans got a glimpse of his warm-up routine during the practice session. On one occasion, Rafael Nadal hit a one-handed backhand shot; the swing and precision were so immaculate that fans compared it to Roger Federer’s legendary single handed backhands.

A fan shared a video of that backhand return from the practice session.

Roger Federer perfected that shot and made it very eye-pleasing that it has become a trademark “Roger backhand.” While Nadal is famous for his powerful two-handed backhand return, watching him play the “Roger-shot” was a treat.

Rafael Nadal and Federer have had many matches against each other in the past. That backhand has troubled Nadal quite a few times as well, so he’s had more than enough time watching the expert do it.
